Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Meaghan. I love baking. Sometimes I let the stresses in my life take over and I neglect baking. and blogging. and you guys! I apologize. My resolution for 2014 is to do better.
The second half of 2013 was hard for me. I had the most difficult semester of my life and way too many grown up responsibilities (read: grad school applications. help me! I’m not old enough for this). I’m sure each and every one of you has gone through your own rough times this year.
However, there is always a flip side to the coin. Along with every low in life, there is a high. I am 100% in belief that silver linings are everywhere if we take a moment to simply look. The hard times make us appreciate the good times even more.
So I’ve made a New Year’s drink for you this afternoon. Let us toast to 2013! Cheers to the unforgettable memories, the seemingly insurmountable struggles, and the strength we feel when we finally realize, “that wasn’t so bad” and “I can do hard things.” Cheers to the resolutions we forgot about, the changes we actually made, and the wishes we have for the coming year.
2014 is going to be a great year. I can just feel it. Sip this bubbly pomegranate cocktail and embrace all the possibilities this new year has to offer – the good, the bad, and the delicious.

Yields: 1 drink
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 part pomegranate juice (I used bottled)
3 parts champagne
pomegranate arils, if desired for decoration.
1. Rub the lime wedge around the top of your serving glass. Pour sugar onto a flat surface. Dip top of glass into the sugar. The lime juice will ensure the sugar sticks.
2. Add you pomegranate juice to your glass. Add the champagne. Top with pomegranate arils, if desired. Enjoy!
